Mask Back On

I sampled Obama talking in Flint from a stream I was watching and sounds from “ONE” by John Inzane Olson.

Paradise Now Lathe Cut 7″ + Booklet by Kendraplex

Released October was a 1 sided 7″ square polycarbonate picture disc + 16 page picture booklet. I recorded the music on synths at home, then cut the music onto a polycarbonate disc with a 1940s Presto record lathe I acquired over the summer. I created the images in the booklet by scanning plants, then collaging the scanned images in Photoshop. After printing the images, I bound the booklets with a sewing machine.

Animated Video for Garcia Peoples

Check out this rotoscope animation I made for Garcia Peoples for their new song One at a Time. I traced over video footage frame by frame in Photoshop, then further arranged and edited in Premiere. It was laborious but I enjoyed the process of quickly identifying which shapes in each frame were essential for visual communication. It brought me back to my most memorable times in front of a screen, 90s MTV.

No Justice is Violence

This song is pretty low demo quality for metal but my soul needed to respond to the movement towards justice and equality and I wanted to help raise money. 100% of proceeds went to Leaders Igniting Transformation.

Experimental-fantasia artist Kendraplex (formerly known as Kendra Amalie) dropped a new track a few months back in the wake of Black Lives Matter marches across the globe. In black metal mode, Plex shares haunting yet blunt lyrics about every aspect of our sociopolitical system being a factor in racism, classism, bigotry, and fascism. Ultimately, she dooms Trump (“evil spirit”) and calls to vanquish his influence from society for good. Ending with a drone, this piece may be dark, but it’s a powerful ode to standing up together and taking back our power from grotesque leaders. All proceeds go toward Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT). We look forward to seeing what Kendraplex does next.
